It is especially important during the winter to keep your engine running! No, I don’t mean your car engine, I mean your own personal engine. The engine that keeps you motivated! New Year’s Resolutions have come, and for many of us that means a clean slate and many new things for us to try and accomplish. Staying motivated to stick with all that you want to accomplish can be difficult but I will give you some easy ways to stay dedicated and focus on staying with it!

One way to help yourself stay motivated to stick with your priorities is to make a ‘Why’ list. This list is why you want to achieve your specific goal. You should be able to come up with at least five good reasons that you should write down. Then once you get your five most important reasons, try and put down as many reasons as you can think of that also play a role in your goal. Write all these ‘Whys’ down and put it somewhere you can see every day. To stay motivated we need to constantly be reminded of why we are doing something, and this is a great way to give ourselves daily reminders.

Another way to stay motivated with your goals is to tell people about them! This may sound a bit weird, and awkward, but this is something you want to accomplish, so why not tell your family and close friends about it? If you create a support system of your peers it will not only make it easier for you to accomplish your goal, because of the encouragement you will get, but also will help keep you accountable to keep trying because others are aware of what you are trying to achieve!

Make your goals visible, create a large list of ‘Whys’ for every goal and make those visible so you can look at them every day, and create a support system so your friends and family can help motivate you and keep you accountable. At the end of the day you wanted to accomplish a goal for the New Year, or in general, so don’t hold back. Change is difficult and if you don’t give it everything you have then it won’t happen. Stay motivated and work hard towards your goals and you will achieve them!
