Many of us have a lot of trouble seeing our results, when it comes to dieting and exercise. We never see ourselves the way others do, and we never see any progress that we have made. Everyone at some point gets discouraged because even though the results are there, they cannot see it. If we cannot see the results of our hard work then we become discouraged which can be detrimental to our long term goals!
Let’s give ourselves perspective of where we came from, where we are currently, and where we are going to be! One of the best ways to track your progress besides keeping notes of everything, is a ‘before’ and ‘after’ picture of yourself. Before you stop reading, let me explain why this is a great way to track progress! We have so much trouble seeing the things we do well, and much of the time do not give ourselves the credit we deserve when it comes to health and fitness. If you start out by taking a couple of those uncomfortable pictures in the beginning and storing them deep in your computer, you will have a reference from when you started. Then if you take a picture once a month you will slowly see changes in yourself. Do you ever notice your hair changing and growing day to day? Most of the time we don’t notice, because it happens slowly, but one day we decide it needs to get cut. The same thing happens with our bodies, the only difference is we are more willing to give up if we don’t see the result we want. With having these monthly pictures you are able to actually see your progress and keep yourself encouraged to keep going!
We need to give ourselves positive reinforcement to continue to help improve our lifestyles through health and fitness. These pictures give you the proof you need, they show you progress, and show your hard work paying off. Tracking your progress and giving yourself a new perspective to see how your work has paid off will give you encouragement and help you to accomplish what you set out to achieve!
